Children and Habits - Building Good Habits Every Day!
Posted: April 06, 2022
Build good habits and quit bad habits. It is easier to just build a lot of good habits when we are younger. Once we get older, we have to really work on overcoming the bad habits with good habits.
If you have been doing something for 25 years, it’s a lot harder to stop than if you have only been doing it for 5 months.
Children grow up to be adults and just like us, they are going to have habits. If they are fortunate enough to have more good habits than bad, their life might be more balanced and heather. Something we all want for our children.
We might have to work hard on our habits but for our children the sooner we start the easier it is. For them and us.
What habits should you be concerned about? Any habits that take away from the health of your child.
Look at it this way. The things your child does every day will be their habit. Just observe your child and then think about it.
Does your child play video games every day? Then that is what they are going to most likely take into their adulthood. Do they watch T.V. every single day? Then why would they stop? Our they anti-social or disrespectful? Do they eat junk food every day? Do they never pick up after themselves?
Anything your child does every single day is going to be a habit.
That is why we recommend physical activity every day in any way. Even though we are martial artists, we understand that doing martial arts 7 days a week is not practical nor is it necessary What we recommend is that the child does physical activity every day of the week. If you do 3 days of martial arts you have 4 days left to do other activities that you like, that are healthy and will keep you fit.
Anything from playing catch to hiking.
Maybe swimming, or bike riding.
In other words, just plan on doing something physical every day of the week. The more variety the better.
What habit would you like for your child to take into adulthood daily? Video games every day or physical activity?
We know that a physically active child is more balanced with their moods and emotions than a child that is inactive. A balanced child will have fewer problems growing up and deal with adversity better than a child that is out of balance.
Don’t wait. Get your child moving every single day!
