How to Keep Your Child Active This Summer

Here are a few tips, and tricks to keep your child active all summer long.
- Have a schedule. Stay on it. Don’t let this time slip away.
- Enroll your child in organized, scheduled summer activities. Dance, Yoga, martial arts, summer sports leagues.
- Cut screen time (video games T.V.) doesn’t increase it.
- Keep normal sleep habits. Going to bed at the same time and getting up at the same time. Creates lifelong habits that your child will eventually thank you for.
- Watch the diet. Get more healthy foods into the diet. Summer should not be a time to get unhealthy.
- Daily activities (exercise). Every day we move and stay active.
- Don’t ask, “what do you want to do today?”. Ask, “Which one of the following activities do you want to do?”.
- Chose activities that keep your child mindfully engaged. That challenges your child. That your child can see improvement in. That makes your child smile.
To have an active summer you need to plan before it starts, and the habits set in. Take a few minutes and do a little thinking about what you want your child to experience this summer. Make a list of fun and beneficial activities that your child would like. Then start planning your summer!
Summer is a great time to have your child explore new activities that help them grow, learn something, and experience more. Don’t let it go to waste.
