Parents, How to Raise Healthy Kids.
Posted: December 13, 2022
Most parents want healthy kids. That means active, fit, and hopefully full of positive energy.
If you want healthy kids, here is some how-to advice.
- Set boundaries. You’re the parent, you have the experience, and you know why they need to be in bed by a certain time. Be disciplined here.
- Require activity. The earlier in life you do this the better it is. My daughter was always in one sport or another. It was just expected that she would do physical activity. Pick an activity. Stick it out for the season. Next season, pick something else if you want, or stick with what you did last year.
- serve healthy meals and don’t do fast food. They won’t eat it if you don’t buy it.
- Get your child involved with positive role models. An example is the martial arts school. Full of goal setting, positive people working together for a positive outcome with positive role models. Better than the kids that hang out on the corner looking for something to do.
- Say no and mean it. “No, we are not going to watch 8 hours of T.V. on Saturday. But we will go hiking.”
Keep it simple. Start small if you must. Just start. Be ready for a little resistance. Or maybe a lot.
Just remember you have your kid’s best interest at heart. And if they could do it by themselves, you would not be reading this.
