The Main Problems Most Children Face and How We Solve Them
Posted: April 06, 2022
Even though the list of problems might seem a mile long, these two top the charts for all the problems they cause later in life.
- Not Enough Confidence
- Not Enough Focus
If your child is struggling with one or both issues, you’re not alone. As a parent, I have been there. As a teacher, I see it every day. Many parents have the same problems.
It’s not even your fault. Today, children have endless distractions. Distractions that destroy their focus. A school system that is not designed to make your child confident let alone focused. Add in some terrible role models and is it any wonder your child struggles with being confident and staying focused?
The problem is that without confidence and without focus, a child is in for very difficult times. And in my experience, if these aren’t fixed the problems get worse the older the child becomes and much more serious.
A lack of confidence leads to bad decisions, bad choices, and behaviors. It can lead to bullying and loneliness. An insecure child has a hard time fitting in and making friends.
A child that can’t focus can’t learn. Can’t stay on task and finish what they started. This leads to bigger problems as the tasks get bigger. A lack of focus makes it very difficult for a child to believe in themselves which makes it very hard to develop confidence.
Fortunately, we have the answer.
How do we help our children become self-confident, focused, and happy?
It is not as hard as you might think. In fact, it can be very quick if you take the right steps
Lifelong confidence is built on 3 foundational traits.
- The ability to focus.
- The ability to discipline oneself.
- The ability to control oneself.
When one can focus then one can learn to be disciplined. When a student has discipline, they strengthen their self-control. With these three traits (skills) ingrained in your child, they learn how to be confident and how to use that confidence every day.
Even though focus is part of building confidence, it is still a skill that needs to be… well, focused on.
The ability to focus is the ability to block out distractions and stay on task until finished. A major success trait in school and life.
Here are 3 solutions to the problem of no focus.
- Self-belief.
- Ability to Learn.
- Positive Guidance.
You must build up the child’s belief in themselves. If they believe they can’t do something they will put very little effort into learning how to do it.
The child needs to learn how to learn. There is a system to learning how to focus the mind and body. Once the child knows these, they can use them to improve their focus at school and everywhere.
Positive guidance and encouragement are the ways the child knows they are on the right path and with the right encouragement they will stay on that path.
There are of course other tools and tricks to get the child to become more focused and confident.
Keep your child active in things that move the body and improve the awareness of their body. If they are conformable in their skin they will be more confident.
If the child is learning something new, developing new skills, and getting better, then they also will be growing their confidence while improving their ability to stay focused.
A physically fit child will also be apt to be more confident and stay focused longer.
These are just a few things that will help your child become more confident and focused.
At the academy, the first program every child goes through is our confidence program. This program is designed to build up their focus, create self-discipline and strengthen their self-control. As well as get them in great shape and keep them active. Put this all together and you can see why we call it the confidence program.
A truly confident child stands tall, makes eye contact, and knows their own mind. A confident child has abilities that allow them to be successful at whatever they choose to do and be!
