The Academy of Kempo Martial Arts Focus on Success
Posted: April 26, 2022
One of the qualities necessary for success in a martial arts school and adult life is focus. Here at The Academy of Kempo Martial Arts, one of the most important lessons our students practice is focus.
Students are taught immediately to focus their attention on the master and meet their eyes. Not only does this foster an immediate link between the master and the student, but it teaches the child to focus on what is being taught. Traditional martial arts training will enable your child to focus on the task at hand and minimize distractions.
Children also learn to focus their energy by repeating moves and positions until perfect form is achieved. Concentrating on how each move is executed helps the child to clear their mind of distractions. Martial arts can be the best way to focus the mind of the student.
Your Attitude Matters!

If you're unhappy with your life, one of the simplest changes you can make to improve it is to change your attitude. After all, your attitude is extremely important. Why is it important? The attitude you choose is important because it will shape every other part of your life. Not only does your attitude shape every aspect of your life, but you actually have the power to change your attitude. Once you learn how to change your attitude, it empowers you to change your entire life for the better.
Of course, attitude isn't simply about the type of day you're having, whether it's a bad day or a good day. Your attitude affects your job. It affects every relationship in your life. Your attitude even affects your future. The attitude you choose can be your greatest asset or it can be the greatest detriment in your life. Choose a positive attitude and you can see positive things happening in your life. In fact, as you focus on keeping a positive attitude, the way you act, think and talk will all be positive. Controlling your attitude and keeping it positive will help you control your choices in life, ensuring that your life moves in a positive direction. Of course, choosing a negative effect can have the exact opposite effect.
Unfortunately, many individuals fail to realize that they are ultimately in control of their attitude. They don't think they can change the way they feel and the way they respond. However, the ability to choose how your respond is what separates successful individuals from those who are unhappy with their life. When something takes place in your life, of course, you instantly feel some kind of emotion. The key is to avoid reacting immediately to that emotion. Instead, you can choose how to respond when an event takes place in life. How you respond to the events in your life, whether you have a positive attitude or a negative attitude, makes all the difference.
Kids Need to Learn Dependability Too

Do you know what dependability is and why it's such an important characteristic that you should be developing? Maybe you've heard the word all your life but you're not quite sure what it really means. Dependability is defined as being worthy of being trusted, being reliable, or being someone that can be depended upon. A few synonyms of dependability happen to include words like "responsible," "steadfast" and "trustworthy."
Take a moment to consider the people in your life, such as coworkers, friends, or family members. If someone never returns your call, how does that make you feel? When someone fails to keep their word, what do you begin to think about that individual? It's easy to lose trust and faith in individuals that do not keep their word. If they don't deliver when they give a promise, you begin to feel that the individual is no longer worthy of your faith and trust. Of course, you can't just judge others in that manner. Ask yourself a few questions. Do you always keep your word? Are you truly dependable? Can people rely on you to deliver on your promises?

Posted: April 22, 2022
You've probably heard a lot about gratitude, or perhaps you've heard the popular phrase, "Have an attitude of gratitude." Gratitude is an important characteristic to develop. However, it's important to realize that gratitude is far more than just expressing gratefulness aloud - it involves living a life of gratitude. As President John F. Kennedy said, "As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words but to live by them."
What is Gratitude?
Before looking at why you should practice gratitude and how you can add gratitude to your life, it's important to understand this characteristic. What is gratitude? Webster's Online Dictionary defines thankfulness as "A feeling of thankfulness and appreciation." It is also described as a state of feeling or being grateful. Instead of focusing on wants and needs, gratitude is a positive emotion that focuses on expressing appreciation.

This is a great article I am sharing from WebMD
If your child is overweight, chances are you want to help him get healthy. But sometimes that means ignoring popular diet advice. Often, what works for adults may not be best for kids.
“Children have their own set of nutritional needs for healthy growth and development,” says Tamara Melton, a dietitian, and instructor at Georgia State University.
