Frequently Asked Questions
-
Kids Martial Arts:
-
Will martial arts teach my child to resort to violence?
-
No. In fact, the opposite is true. We teach our Tiny Tigers respect, obedience, and tranquility. We have seen several disobedient and physically expressive children become respectful and well-behaved after training in our classes.
-
Are martial arts just for boys or can my daughter enroll in your school?
-
Our facility and classes are completely co-ed. We think it is important for both boys and girls to learn discipline and respect together, all in a fun environment. We have a very diverse group of students and would love to have your child join our martial arts family.
-
Does my child run the risk of injury at your facility?
-
It is impossible to say that no child will ever be injured in our class, but safety is key in our facility. Even though we practice self-defense moves and we do practice some sparring drills, your child will not be "fighting" anyone or getting hurt. Of course, there is always potential for injury with any sports activity, however, our instructors take great care to make sure everyone practices at their own pace without getting injured.
-
I’m worried that my child is too old or too young to start martial arts. At what age should beginners enroll?
-
We welcome all ages and skill levels at our facility! We have students as young as three years old as well as courses for adults with absolutely no prior experience. No matter what age and skill level your child or teen is, we will find a place for him or her.
Does martial arts promote violence?
We do not believe that violence is ever the answer! Martial arts teaches self-discipline, strength control, and confidence. It is our hope that you will never need to use the self-defense tactics we teach, but also feel confident knowing that our students are always prepared to keep themselves and loved ones safe in case of a dangerous situation.
How often should my child attend classes?
We recommend that students attend classes at least twice a week to see the best results. However, we understand that schedules can be busy, so we offer flexible class schedules to fit your needs.
How long does it take to see progress?
Every child is different, but with regular attendance and practice, you can expect to see progress within a few months. Our instructors work with each student individually to help them reach their goals and achieve their full potential.
What is the process for advancing to the next level?
Our martial arts program is designed to help students progress at their own pace. Advancement to the next level is based on skill level and mastery of techniques, as well as attitude, behavior, and attendance. Our instructors will work with your child individually to determine when they are ready to advance to the next level.
How long are the courses?
The length of our martial arts courses can vary depending on the program and the student's goals. We offer a variety of programs for students of all ages and skill levels, ranging from short-term introductory courses to ongoing programs for advanced students. Our instructors will work with you to determine the best program for your needs and goals, and provide guidance and support throughout your martial arts journey.
Is participation in tournaments required for my child to advance at your school?
No, participation in tournaments is not required for students to advance at our school. We believe that the focus of martial arts training should be on personal growth, skill development, and building confidence and respect, rather than competition. Our programs are designed to help students achieve their individual goals and advance at their own pace, regardless of whether they choose to participate in tournaments or not. Our instructors provide guidance and support throughout the training process, and advancement is based on skill level, mastery of techniques, and attitude, behavior, and attendance.?
